❌ Not quite.

You picked LDL cholesterol. LDL is on every standard cholesterol test. The inherited one most tests skip is Lp(a). The answer is A) Lp(a).

What worked: About 1 in 5 people have high Lp(a), a particle in the blood that raises heart attack and stroke risk. It's mostly inherited, so diet and exercise barely change it, and a standard cholesterol test doesn't measure it. European and US lipid guidelines now recommend testing it at least once in adulthood.

Why it matters: a high number doesn't mean something will happen. It means your other risks deserve more attention, and the proven response today is bringing LDL cholesterol and blood pressure down further.

Use it this week:

  • Ask for Lp(a) to be added to your next blood draw. It's a one-time test for most people.

  • If it's high, ask your doctor whether your LDL and blood pressure targets should be lower.

  • Tell your family. It runs in families, so siblings and children may have it too.

What's coming: No drug that lowers Lp(a) is approved yet. The first large outcome trial, Novartis's, failed in September 2026. Amgen's and Eli Lilly's trials are expected to report around 2028 and 2029.
